Please bring your sketchbook with five photographers per section covered. Non sequential and sequential narrative. Have an idea for your next project and a category that it falls under. Good job with critique today. One big project down two more bodies of work to go. 

Thursday, critique day

Hi Ladies,

Make sure the work is hung up and lighted at the beginning of class at 10:50. We will meet in the gallery. Please hang up your artist statement with a piece of magic tape on the back and adhere to the side of your work. 

Artist statement formatting 

3 inch margin from the top. Start with your paragraphs. Align with no tabs. Double space between paragraphs. Rest should be single spaced, 11 pt., Georgia font. Should be something that is on everyone's computer. Double space at the end. Then have your name in italics and the year. Put a comma between name and year. We will try and keep format the same so can have this look cohesive as a show. 

Ashley - you were the only one I didn't get to have a last look at your artist statement. If you want to stop by my office tomorrow (wed at 9 am) I can look things over for you. 

Think about this working together as a show so please don't hang your work too high. Bring your sketchbook to class to show research for the project.

 The other artist research will be due next week (sequential and non sequential artists / 5 of each). Due Tuesday after critique. 

Tuesday, Sept. 24

Hey guys,

I will be having critique in the other class so if you want you can head over to the student gallery and start assembling images. I will try and meet your over there as soon as I get done with critique. I'm hoping critique will only run an hour. We will look over your printed off artist statements and look over final prints as well as layout then. Good luck this weekend. Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together in the gallery space.

Please bring your types artist statement to class in Thursday. Shoot more of your projects. 

PHOTO DIARY 

Arthur Tess / photo collage with physical objects must have symbolism and be unsettling. Other option surrealistic unsettling portraits with repeated imagery. Three photos must be done for the option that you choose. 

Tuesday, Sept 17

Please work on your revised artist statements and shoot more for your projects. It's going to be a work day for the students in photo one so please come at the beginning of class and we can spend most of the class time in discussion and talking out ideas. See you then!

Thursday, Sept. 12

Please start to write your artist statements. Come with a printed out copy to class.

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS
Continue to work out your series (H). Find a photographer your love (A) and pattern your work off of theirs. This will help you find that artist statement direction. (K) Keep working out your triangle series.

Also we will be starting at noon on Thursday. The younger students are in the dark room for the first time. If you would like to help these guys print I could always use the extra hands. Thanks again for your help today Hannah:)!

Tuesday, Sept. 10

K- triangle photos in new york
A - find a macro lens or crop down the photos
H - shoot photos with yourself present that represent value
