Tuesday, Sept. 3

Please have a printed out hard copy of your proposal to turn in on Tuesday next week. Find at least two  - three photographers to reference in your proposal that your work's look or idea is aligned to. You will spend your first week of Sept. idea shooting and testing out the look of your idea. In Class exercise - build something or take something apart in a series of photos similar to Duane Michals work. The series of six will be on one slide in your photo diary with a title handwritten underneath. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Note - If you are interested AIGA is tonight. This is a group of graphic artists, photographers, videographers, professional creatives that work in industries across the USA. It's a great way to get exposure for your work and get involved on campus. Come and check out the meeting at 6:30 pm Thursday, August. 29 in at A72. Come see what we are all about! Don't forget about the slide lecture at 4:30 pm in A72 and gallery talk at 5:30 pm tonight.

Thursday, August 29

Please tell a story of a moment with a series of five close up photographs. Look to Nicholas Nixon for inspiration. http://www.moma.org/collection/artist.php?artist_id=4315. Have these ready for class on Thursday.

We will look over your in depth revised proposals on Thursday. Please talk about layers of depth. Find several photographers that work with a similar idea or concept that you are linking your work to. Think about that final product on the gallery wall.

Tuesday, August 27

Please bring your written proposals for your next body of work to class. Should be one page and answer the questions -
1. What is your work?
2. Why do you want to do this body of work?
3. How many photographs? How is it to be displayed?
4. What photographer thinks about this subject in or works in a similar fashion?

Make sure you pull off your photos from In-Class Tell a Story assignment and start researching on Narrative Photography set of 5 photographers for your sketchbook. See you Tuesday!
