Thursday, Nov. 14

Please bring your 5 shots of the animals and your street shooting work to class on Thursday. We will look these over. Also please bring your written proposals in the following set up.

COVER PAGE / This includes Name / Title of proposal (page 1)

ARTIST RESUME (pg 2)

ARTIST BIO (this is a short blurb about yourself and art accomplishments) (pg 3)
See examples / some longer than others - you can guess which one is graphics and which one is for artwork.
Melinda Eckley Posey is an assistant professor of art at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. She holds a MFA from Memphis College of Art in Memphis, TN. Her artwork and design work has been featured on national and local stages.

Posey’s installations render ideas of the "common" object within the gallery space, inviting the viewer to reexamine the object through the lenses of historical, feminist and philosophical traditions of thought. Her artwork has been featured on both national and local stages.

ARTIST STATEMENT / SHOW CONCEPT (yes this how it works if work not made yet in the real world:) (pg 4)

REQUIREMENTS (Number of pieces / Dimensions / Material / Hanging Requirements for the pieces)
(pg 5)

Staple these together and ready to turn in on Thursday.

Please have all of this graphically treated so that it catches the "gallery owners eye" This is really important that it is not centered word document. Even if no graphic treatment - stay away from center and Times New Roman - you would be amazed at how far a good looking proposal document will get you.

Thursday, critique day

Hi Ladies,

Make sure the work is hung up and lighted at the beginning of class at 10:50. We will meet in the gallery. Please hang up your artist statement with a piece of magic tape on the back and adhere to the side of your work.

Artist statement formatting
3 inch margin from the top. Start with your paragraphs. Align with no tabs. Double space between paragraphs. Rest should be single spaced, 11 pt., Georgia font. Should be something that is on everyone's computer. Double space at the end. Then have your name in italics and the year. Put a comma between name and year. We will try and keep format the same so can have this look cohesive as a show.

Ashley - you were the only one I didn't get to have a last look at your artist statement. If you want to stop by my office tomorrow (wed at 9 am) I can look things over for you.

Think about this working together as a show so please don't hang your work too high. Bring your sketchbook to class to show research for the project.

The other artist research will be due next week (sequential and non sequential artists / 5 of each). Due Tuesday after critique.
